Our Week in the Forest
What a fun filled festive week we have had. We had Santa’s sleigh arrive, which was being pulled by the reindeer. Unfortunately, the children discovered that it had broken down! They put on their hard hats and with tools at the ready, they set to work to fix it. Thanks to some very good engineers and some festive singing, we managed to get the sleigh working again.
There has been a hive of activity making some Christmas wreaths. Our little explorers all painted their hands green and printed them down onto white paper. When our handprints were dry, we set to work to cut them out and attach them to the outside of a plate. Everyone was very excited to take them home and hang them up!
Mrs Claus’ bakery has had a lot of customers this week too. Our Little Forest Folk-ers got to work to roll out the gorgeous cinnamon playdough before using different size cookie cutters to make the shapes. They then used natural materials to make the face and the buttons of our little cinnamon people.
We had a little fog one morning, so we all set off to explore. As we came down the hill, there were lots and lots of geese. They were making lots of noise and then they took off as we watched them all gracefully landing on the lake while we all sang The 12 Days of Christmas. In the boathouse there were twinkly lights, baubles and nutcrackers hanging that we excitedly observed before heading back up to the cottage.
As well as all this, we have been making Christmas decorations as well as Christmas cards for the lovely National trust staff.
We wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
